British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community shared sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
