Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt able to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced passing more hours together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without joy".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a separate tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a public database citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
