A exciting demo version is set to go live on Jan. 7, offering a generous taste into the game's beginning segments. More Than a Simple Re-release: A Complete Overhaul

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is a from-scratch reimagining of the landmark 2000 role-playing game, first released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a significant step away from recent Dragon Quest remakes, such as the recently released HD-2D versions, this reimagining adopts a unique three-dimensional aesthetic. Locales appear to resemble detailed model sets, with party members featuring a whimsical toy-like design.

"Even with the previous port, the main quest was still quite long. So we came to a conclusion that we wanted to condense the story, [and] craft an experience for modern audiences."

Significant Gameplay Enhancements and Updates

The development team have added numerous modernizations to streamline the classic experience. These include:

• Quick Overworld Encounters: Inspired by modern RPGs, low-level foes are now defeated instantly on the overworld map eliminating the need for initiating a separate traditional combat screen.
• Adjustable Battle Pace: Gamers can accelerate battle sequences to quickly get past less challenging encounters.
• New Job Mechanics: One brand new character role was added for this remake. Furthermore, party members gain the ability to master a secondary vocation, greatly expanding customization possibilities.

These changes seek to address a key the original game's most noted points of feedback: its immense playtime. The original main quest was known to take more than 100 hours to see through. The new version was specifically designed to improve pacing and cut down on perceived bloat.
