FC Barcelona to Host Inaugural Fixture at Renovated Camp Nou this Saturday

Barcelona have announced they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years after they moved out so building work could begin.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans are permitted inside under the licence granted. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. The club said finished work included a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.

Preparatory Events

Barça organized a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch earlier this month. They mentioned they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt next month in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
