Former BBC Specialists Participate in Parliamentary Inquiry Following Allegations of Bias in Leaked Memorandum

Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation consultants speaking before parliamentary committee

We start with inquiries from Tory Member of Parliament the panel's head, that leads the panel.

She opens by providing background to the unauthorized memo authored by Michael Prescott and published in a national newspaper.

"I don't want the BBC leaning this way or that way, I just want it balanced, unbiased and fair," he says.

Upon being questioned whether he believes the BBC is systematically partial, Prescott replies: "No, I do not. To be clear, a great deal the BBC creates is exceptional - including factual and entertainment shows."

However, he continues: "There is real work that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

A further former external British Broadcasting Corporation specialist examined by the group, Caroline Daniel, remarks she views the British Broadcasting Corporation very seriously and that it operates a "continuous process and active debate" on dynamic and complex topics.

"Whether the BBC was prepared to conduct a genuine discussion and exchange and take action?" she questions. "From my perspective, affirmative, they were."
