Rugby Football Union Presents Ambitious Plan to Strengthen Women’s Rugby and Build on the Red Roses' Global Championship Victory
The RFU has committed to sustaining forward drive by launching a half-decade action plan designed to build on the success of the national women's team's championship.
Core Targets of the Initiative
Dubbed Our Time: Every Rose, the strategy details several ambitious objectives, among them aiming to be the inaugural English side to secure back-to-back Rugby World Cup wins.
A further primary goal is to boost engagement to 100,000 women and girls engaging in rugby across the UK by 2030, currently standing at the existing figure of sixty thousand.
Revenue and Support Goals
The national rugby authority is also working to increase twofold its income from the women's sport to sixty million pounds, permitting greater investment in community the sport.
Moreover, the plan sets out a goal of building 3 million passionate Red Roses fans.
“The pressures have reached a peak,” remarked the executive director, the executive director of the women’s game. “The opportunity has never been bigger, but standing still is not possible because the movement are now gaining speed.”
Creating a Future for Female Rugby
Teasdale emphasized that the women's game has made huge strides since she started at the rugby union in the year 2011, when there were merely 12,500 participants.
Teasdale remembered that within some teams, although women could technically play, they certainly weren’t welcomed either.
Despite the progress made, she insisted that further work is needed to elevate the sport, particularly amid a financial pressures.
Historic Achievement and Forward-looking Vision
“In the latest match, we saw an outstanding achievement as 82,000 supporters flooded through the venue at Allianz Stadium to see our national team win the World Cup title,” she stated.
“Planning for the future to 2030, we want to keep this progress continuing.”
Challenges and Potential
Teasdale continued that the union functions in an environment where funds are scarce, which can lead to tough decisions.
“Ambitious strategies, particularly for the female rugby, naturally question the status quo,” she noted. “Yet the reality is obvious: the destiny of the game is tied to the women's sport.”
Support Base and Ongoing Dedication
Additionally, the CEO, the chief executive, pointed out that of the 400,000 fans who attended the championship, nearly a third had never attended a fixture in the past.
“Possibly the data point that really enthuses us is that ninety percent said they want to attend again and repeat the experience,” he commented. “However we can’t become complacent. We must continue pushing forward.”
